OTHER SERVICES

Low-Volume, Complex Geometry

Crucible Metal's capabilities include the production of permanent molds, industrial patterns, core boxes and other tooling for the foundry industry. Our facility utilizes the latest technology, industry protocols and quality procedures to provide high quality, competitively priced industrial tooling. We are familiar with George Fisher, KW, Disa, Hunter, Laempe, Sinto and various other tool rigging.

TOOLING ENGINEERING

Consult Crucible Metal with your most complicated tooling designs and casting questions. Our engineers come from an array of industries, bringing a diverse perspective on every project and thereby more value to our customers. Their experiences not only cover our core competency of patterns, permanent molds and castings; but also plastic injection, lost foam, and die-casting. Although we’d never say we’ve seen it all with our years of experience, we’ve been trusted with some of the most difficult designs and confidential projects in the industry.

When one of our customers came to us with a DOD permanent mold casting they wanted to improve, we flew over a 1,000 miles to go over it in person and brainstorm improvement ideas. The permanent mold consisted of multiple sliding pieces, hydraulics, unique clamping and complicated parting. Our model was approved in just one iteration and the mold was delivered 8 weeks later. Of course we don’t do it alone, our customers partner with us and deal directly with our engineers by phone, web conference or in-person. We don’t see your project as just another PO, we see it as a challenge to show our value and prove our worth to your organization and success.

Engineering services include:

  • CAD modelling from sketch, print or simply adding draft to your supplied model

  • Tooling design from drafted model

  • CNC programming (CAM)

  • Reverse engineering of tools and castings

PROTOTYPING

It goes without saying, if you’re looking for prototypes you need a quick turnaround. And there’s no better way to reduce lead-times on prototypes than to have total control over the process. That’s what differentiates Crucible Metal Solutions. With experienced tooling and casting engineers accustomed to working directly from a sketch or model we have no issues taking the drawing later. With a wholly-owned foundry and in-house machining capability, we control our schedules. When outside sources are required, we manage it with a fury to ensure no time is lost in supplier handoffs. Our employees and partners know what’s at stake, we’re relentless, and we only work with the most trusted suppliers to ensure your due date is a deadline. We deliver, literally.

  • Castings, or from billet, in steel, iron, aluminum, brass and bronze

MACHINING

At Crucible Metal Solutions, we have a unique focus on 2D and 3D machining specifically tailored to each customer's needs. From low-volume prototype machined castings to mid-volume production finished machined castings, we can handle every step of development from a sketch on a napkin to finished machined product, quality certified. It’s not by accident we can deliver some of the shortest leads in the industry with the highest quality and lowest costs. Our engineers spend time listening to your needs on the front end to ensure you get what you need on-time and within budget.

We are ISO and Mil-spec compliant and can handle production volumes and weights into the 1,000s (pcs and pounds). Where our capacity or capability is constrained we work with certified, tested partners that deliver. Let us manage your most difficult projects, so you can focus on your core business.
